With all of the meaningless reality TV shows and the plethora of sitcoms with almost identical plots, TV can become frustrating to watch sometimes. If you’re like me you have been searching for a good story line and some killer fashion. With one of my fave’s (VH1’s Single Ladies) season finale and rumors that it may not be returning for a new season, I’ve been having a hard time. However, I’ve come across some shows that will be premiering in the next few months that will scratch my fashion itch!
On April 12th at 10/9c, The Oprah Winfrey Network will premiere this new docu-series” which follows four professional ladies: Kiyah Wright (a celebrity stylist), Chenoa Maxwell (actress of Hav Plenty fame), Bershan Shaw (founder of social networking site URAWARRIOR), and Tiffany Jones (founder of the Pink Chose Me Foundation) as they attempt to juggle their professional worlds with friendships and love lives. With the NYC setting, The show is said to be very reminiscent of Sex and the City (which I will sit and watch over and over, no matter how times E! decides to play reruns!). I’m hopeful that it lives up to the hype and gives good relatable situations on top of great fashions!
I am still currently catching up on previous seasons of this show on netfix, but Season 7 is set to premiere at 10/9c, April 13th, on AMC! The very reason I am into the show now is because I saw a promo picture from season six with cast members wearing glamorous retro suits and dresses and I was immediately intrigued (I love shows and movies that were filmed or that are set in earlier eras: 40s, 30s, 50s)! I was only upset that I had not taken notice of the show earlier. Set in the 60s, it centers around businessman, Don Draper, and the Sterling Cooper & Partners Ad Agency. Don and the people within his circle struggle to deal with the changing culture of the times in their jobs as well as their personal lives. Prominent issues of the 60s are highlighted in the show like alcoholism, infidelity, sexism, racism, and smoking. If you have not been watching the show, play catch up on Netflix now! It will definitely be worth it!
Devious Maids will be returning with season 2 on April at 10/9c. This comedy/drama is based on the scandalous lives of four housemaids to some of Beverly Hills most rich and famous who are trying to reach bigger dreams and goals like singing careers and solving murder mysteries to someone else’s name. The latin cast members are always looking stunning with gorgeous makeup, lovely hair, and the sexiest casual fits! I’ve been a fan of this show since day one, so I am so excited about the new season!
Hit the Floor will premiere May 26! If you are a dancer (or an ex dancer like me), you are probably already a fan of Hit the Floor. The show is centered around a rookie dancer who has recently joined the Los Angeles Devils Girls’ dance team and she deals with the pressure to shine on the team. After running into a catty team captain, relationship malfunction, and family issues, she soon learns that gaining the spotlight is not as glamorous as it seems. The show always feature some street style as well as the perfect inspiration for glamours events likes benefit banquets and other special occasions. Don’t miss the new season at 9/8c on VH1.
This mystery/drama will be returning for a new season and most people are already raving about it. I’m sure most know the storyline, but for those who don’t, it is about 4 girls trying to solve a the murder mystery of their best frenemy, Allison aka A, who they are also getting blackmailed by through other people using her name, of course, (they don’t know who’s blackmailing them) And all the while trying to survive high school, love lives, and sexuality issues. No matter what crazy drama gets involved, they always look fabulous! I almost watch this show purely for the fashion (sometimes trying to figure out who or how many people may be A is tiring, lol). It’s definitely worth tuning in to, though! It premieres June 10th on ABC Family.
This new show will premiere in June on Bravo. I saw the promo pictures and fell in love with all of their styles. They are so classy and well put together. I love it!!! The show is supposed to be about the women of extremely high society in London trying to protect their exclusive circles from new money, or the American women who are new to the country and the money and trying to break into London’s social scene. I think it may definitely be a show worth watching just because it gives a look into different styles, fashions, and culture.
Other shows worth watching to get a fashion fix:
The Fabulist and Fashion Police on E!
Fashion Queens on Bravo
The Game and Being Mary Jane on BET
Any shows that give you a fashion high that I left out?
